June 2022 - Meeting Summary - Part B Empty June 2022 - Meeting Summary - Part B

We learned that students only have to pass the literacy and numeracy NCEA tests once each. There aren't/won't be separate tests for each level, ie Levels 1, 2, 3. All of the other subjects will have a test for each level however. For those that struggle with literacy and/or numeracy, they can sit the test(s) each year if they wish. This will help them gauge where they are at and what they need to work further on. The clincher is that each student must meet all the criteria to pass the test. And, the results of each test are achieved or not achieved only and are all marked externally, not by school staff. This will give consistency to marking and rule out any potential bias situations. Also great news was that particularly in the numeracy tests, the questions were actually practical situations that we as adults deal with regularly - no Algebra! (Can you tell that maths and I are not friends?).
